Investigation into incident of violence during new year's eve on Saba

During the recent New Year's Eve on Saba, an incident took place at a local hospitality establishment in which a KPCN police officer drew his service firearm. An employee of the KMar present at the incident was also allegedly involved in the incident and used force.

It has not escaped the notice of the Public Prosecutor’s Office that this incident has caused quite a stir and concern within the community of Saba and on social media.

It has been decided by the Public Prosecutor's Office, under the direction of a public prosecutor, to conduct criminal investigations into the facts that prompted this use of violence by KPCN and KMar employees. As is customary, the use of force by these officers will also be further investigated and tested against the relevant regulations. These investigations are now being conducted by the Internal Affairs Bureau of the KPCN and KMar respectively. The findings of these investigations will also subsequently be assessed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

However, before drawing any conclusions about the incident, maximum efforts will first be made to fully gather all the facts surrounding this incident. When the investigation is completed and conclusions can be drawn, further reporting will follow.
